Thank you to my 1 follower!! LOL! She's my best friend!!! My topic today is why amateurs shouldn't buy horses:
- They can't afford vet bills
- They'll buy the $100 horse and really take chances
- They won't know what to do with the horse
- And finally when they think the horse is "unrideable" but it's too early to tell they'll try to trade it to a rescue center for a rideable horse.
And those are my 4 reasons. Ways to avoid this:
- Make sure you can afford vet bills or animal insurance
- Try learning everything about the horse before you buy it, even get on it and decide if it will be a companion or a riding horse
- Know what and how to do things with this horse.
- Don't believe you can trade a companion horse for a good horse when you find out you can't ride it when really he probably can be ridden.
It's terrible how horses are being treated and trying to buy one then trying to get rid of it when it becomes onlyy a companion is horrible and inhumane. If you or someone you know is like that correct their (or your) wrong.
For the love of horses,
Savanna
PS: It's kinda weird only writing for 1 person, so follow please!!!
It's getting chilly out!!! Remember to throw those blankets on your horses if you haven't already!!
So my topic today is winter biting back. My friend rescued a former track horse 17.5hh (0.o). He has an old track injury in his knee and the cold is flaring it up. He can't be exercised and can barely walk. He's getting a temper as well. I tried cleaning his hooves to make sure there's no pebbles in it but he wouldn't lift his injured foot. When he ducked down to get hay his whole lower leg would lay on the ground. Any suggestions for pain meds or something to help? Do you think a wrap would help
Note: He does not have a blanket, we live in Arizona it's not that cold but I did suggest to get one. Thanks for reading and happy snow trails!
